I thought I would just let you all know that I’ve sold my Nokia N800. it was a short lived affair, and was a wonderful device, but its gone now, along with the Proporta case and some 2gb SD cards.

I know the N800 was really cool for surfing the interweb, and reading emails on the move (although I really wished it could have displayed images within the emails), using Skype, BUT (and it’s a big but), it was still an extra device to carry around. I was still carrying my phone around, still carrying my iPod around, and carrying around the Nokia N800.

The Nokia mobile phone and ipod will soon be replaced by an iPhone when they eventually getreleased in the UK. Now if only Apple would tell us whos got the iPhone deal in the UK (and please don’t let it be Orange – I get very little signal at home!!!)

Nokia N800, please do well, and it was fun while it lasted…
-

Skype have just released a new beta version of the VOIP client for OSX.

According to Skypes blog, the main changes are around how contacts are groups and displayed, you can now see all your contacts from Address book as SkypeOut contacts, you can now do public chats, auto redial has been added, you can now alter the call volume settings from within the call, and the file transfer has been ‘overhauled’.

<quote>

Group contacts – organize your contacts into as many groups as you need. While there are some pre-defined groups (like Online, Waiting Authorization, Recently Contacted), you’re free to add new ones that suit your life. This should be a godsend to those whose contact list has ballooned to hundreds of Skype users. Explore this nifty feature under the cogwheel icon on the main screen.

See your Apple Address Book contacts in Skype – easily call or SMS anyone who has a phone number in their address-book profile. When texting, just make sure the number is one that belongs to a mobile phone.

Create and manage public chats by clicking on Chats in the menu bar and choosing Start Public Chat. A public-chat assistant will walk you through the necessary steps.

Auto Redial for busy or unconnected calls. When your call hits the busy signal, Skype will give you the option of automatic redial every two minutes until the call goes through. This setting can also be adjusted in Skype > Preferences > Calls.

Easy sound-level controls – when you need to tweak the sound level during a call, use a simple slider in the call window

Overhauled file transfer – wearing a more fashionable jacket, file-transfer now looks elegant and acts even nicer, especially when receiving many files at once

Well, as you probably all know I am pretty much a Geek and a Spod, but I only scored 18 out of 20. So perhaps I’m not a Geeky or Spoddy as I thought I was. But can you guess which questions I didn’t answer yes to ?

Now heres something you don’t see everyday, a ‘life sized’ Lego man has been washed up on a beach in the Netherlands. Now how big is a ‘life sized’ Lego man ? Lego people are only normally a few centimeters tall.
